Aroma Intenso

$16.00$150.00

A genuinely intense coffee. Probably the most intense coffee on the market. Incredibly full-bodied, intensely rich, with hardly any acidity at all. Pour it short, add sugar, and enjoy the taste Neapolitan style.

Description

In Naples they love their cuisine, and coffee is no exception, as highlighted in the 1954 film, ‘Questa Fantasmi’ by Eduardo di Filippo. Arguably the most loved coffee in Italy, caffe Napolitano is traditionally rich and full-bodied, incredibly so in fact. Aroma intenso is a salute to the Neapolitan tradition of roasting over wood and of relying on robusta for richness and body. With this coffee, the secret to producing a great cup is in the extraction, and it is no coincidence that in Naples a caffe is shorter and made from beans roasted darker than their northern counterparts, where arabica tends to dominate blends and roasts are lighter. They are both adjustments (as is the addition of sugar) made to offset the bitter quality of the robusta bean. Ideally, this coffee would be had standing at a bar where the barista, a mature careerist in coffee making, deftly wrangles a series of levers behind a shiny chrome machine to produce an  exquisitely intense coffee, akin, almost, to a liqueur. Unfortunately, you would have to go to Naples to enjoy that. The next best thing would be to grab a packet of our Aroma Intenso and try it on your domestic espresso machine at home (or the Italian or Neapolitan coffee maker). Just remember short (like ristretto short), sweet, and for those wanting a coffee with chocolate smoothness, topped up with a milk of your choice. It will certainly offer a kick like you’ve never had in Australia.
